I find these kind of technical questions difficuilt to answer. I am incapable of concentrating on handbooks of computer techniques so most of what I do is homemade and naive. The image is of made of pencil drawing and some washes in acrylic. then it was scanned into photoshop and broken into layers..Then more drawing. I often keep the elements in several separate layers which gives plenty of flexibility to adjust colour and hue. The drawing of Akhenaten is really quite bad and I was on the point of discarding it when I thought: what the hell, I'll try it out anyway.Sometimes it helps not to care too much about an image. It may speak for itself.
