I've recently been reading STANLEY CROUCH's collection of essays on jazz: 'CONSIDERING GENIUS', and I was reminded of CHARLES MINGUS' 'Alice' theme.
(There is a link on the title above if you want to hear some of it.)
This picture is also a hommage to alto saxophonist JOHN HANDY - who was MINGUS' JOHNNY HODGES. Music lovers will know what I mean even if they don't agree with me.

John Richard Handy III is an "Avant Garde" player who makes me smile.

This IS the wonderland i'd like to be- complete, with colour and sound...
This inspires me to learn more about jazz and thosegreat musicians. Very beautiful.
You might like to try the album in question, nic: Jazz Portraits: Mingus In Wonderland: Blue Note:
Charles Mingus at his most romantic and accessible. Recorded in 1959 and now around at bargain basement prices.
MINGUS is no longer among us, but the urbane JOHN HANDY certainly is. He does not seem to chase after the pop limelight but he had a big hit some years ago with a smart groove called HARD WORK.
JOHNNY HODGES' nickname was 'rabbit'. Black rabbits are currently in season in Limbololand.
Tripping on the rabbit ears!!
REally amazing tour paintings.
