Many years ago I went to hear the great JIMMY WITHERSPOON singin' and swingin' the blues at the Bull's Head pub in Richmond.
I've drawn him here - as I remember him - without looking at photos to remind me of his features.
I think he was with Dick Morrisey's group that saturday afternoon.

I'll listen to this, I'm starting to listen to Jazz now, just got Coltrane "a love supreme" and Miles Davies "kind of blue" which I love.
Spoon's blues were urban, but less urbane than Miles and Coltrane.
The Prestige album cherry-picks from his best period: the 50's and 60's, when he was recording with stellar sidemen: Ben Webster, Pepper Adams, Gerry Mulligan, Kenny Burrell, Harry Edison, T-Bone Walker...All the good guys.
Enjoy.
