Hey Luc, Most of the stuff in the box is just stuff. I don't think I even forwarded this to the producers in Paris. If I'd 'finished' it, I'd have ruined it. Nowadays I would add things in Photoshop without messing with the original.
Perhaps you're thinking of Bonington's historical illustrations. When I did this I was in the mood for Chardin, Tiepolo and Fragonard.

It is a shame when a work done with so much talent and art finally does not see the light. I don´t know the series but the environment is proper of Murat's suicide or Don Quijote's bed. This is a beauty.

The Series was THORGAL, ENFANT DES ETOILES: comics by Rozinsky and Van Hamme. Well known in Europe but almost totally unknown in the Anglo world... Part of the financing problem. Also 'Thorgal' sounds like a bathroom product in English. Good stories though.
Did Limbolo see The Golden Compass 'sizzle reel' on Aint It cool News? Your bear is on it. Looks like they decided to go with a pretty standard, regular polar bear design, HOW it's supposed to MAKE armour is anyone's guess. The daemons look pretty uninspired too. It's all unfinished fx I know...
Yes, I've seen it. I think polar bears with clothes on look silly. I also think that Phillip Pullman's special effects are literary, not visual. I took a shot at Iorek and Paul Catling took it on after me...We'll see, come December. There was a piece in the Sunday Times featuring an interview with Pullman and his view of the movie in-production. New Line seem to have him onside. Tom Stoppard is now billed as the writer; so the story may have a different twist from the script I remember.
