Well, I'll answer the old coke fiend by suggesting that the reverse seems equally true if one considers the trends in population migration. This said, when it rains in Limbololand, it pours in a tropical way. Thanks for the shower of goodies...Oh, and do I detect the smell of good ol' fashion analog paint on one of those little dainties? Cheers.
Yes, but Luc, the migration is for economic rather than sentimental reasons, no? Can't remember what he was driving at here. I think it was something to do with his first visit to Italy which he had delayed - neurotically - for years.
The perennial blues theme of return to the south may be part of its appeal. Even to those, like myself, who have no personal experience of a homeland down in Dixie. The places in the imagination are the ones that count.
Hi Neil, I'll have to agree, there is nothing but our perception of places and times and how it lives in our own minds. I will not debate that in modern European culture the myth of 'The South' is pervasive and account for much of the touristic industry world wide...a longing for the Garden of Eden, or perhaps a nostalgy for the colonies? As for the music, there is this beautiful song by french singer Nino Ferrer that pretty much says it all in very simple words (I'm sure Marianne knows about it). I recommend it, it's called ...'Le Sud'. Cheers.
God, what post! let us breath! I love all of them. The Cuban guys ( are htey cuban? let me think that ) having an agreement are faboulous. And we still have to meet soon...
hi neil, good wibes and sun from Nice. I hope the wine was good and i wish you good life. Your work is inspiration for me. see you soon (desolé si mon anglais est incompréhensible)
"His name was Charlie Christian, 23 years old and fresh off the train from his hometown, Oklahoma City. He had a guitar case in one hand and an amplifier in the other. Wearing "a broad-brimmed Texas hat, very pointed yellow shoes, a green suit and a purple shirt."
Oh, yes, what a jazz guitar innovator.
By the way I like very much Paolo Comte, but I LOVE the late Fred Buscaglione, the first one "italian jazz singer and a plus".
Limbolo, long time without visiting your place... great stuff as usual. Very nice the lonely walker caught from the high -probably the same trapped from the front in the last drawing, no?-

The 'cubans' drawing is based on a photo of Charlie Christian being seen off by his pals at a railway station. Just a photoshop doodle.
